It’s been a big year here at Freight Farms. With only a few weeks left until the end of 2015, we’re thrilled to announce we’ve officially sold out of farms for the year.

At the beginning of 2015, we set out to expand and empower our network of farmers to create localized food systems anywhere. We wanted “more businesses, communities, and schools growing a more diverse variety of crops in the tightest spaces, harshest climates, and where it’s needed most.” We can confidently say that this year our mission and vision became more than just a concept; it is a reality.

Today there are over 108 freight farmers, in 2 different countries, operating in drastically different climates, growing an enormous amount of local food for their communities.

The most remarkable thing about our customer base is the tremendous diversity of freight farmers. Some are entrepreneurs starting brand new businesses, others are large institutional companies that have been around for a hundred years. Some are still in high school, while others have recently retired. Each of them have uniquely powerful missions, yet they are all united by the desire to provide the freshest local produce in their communities.

To give you a better snapshot of where we are now, we’ve tallied up some powerful statistics.

With more people joining this movement every day, we’ve already begun preparing for another year of immense growth. Over the next year, we’re scaling up our manufacturing capabilities (almost threefold) in order to meet demand. On top of that we’ll be expanding our team to ensure we provide the best customer experience, and can continue to support each farmer as they grow (literally). You’ll definitely be hearing more about the power of farmhand, the app that connects us and our farmers to their LGMs, as it provides us with more data and insights into how to improve operations.

We’re incredibly excited about the year ahead, and want to thank all of our freight farmers, supporters and community of fans for helping Freight Farms get to where it is today.

Cheers to a great year!
