Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a versatile mechanical engineer with the capacity to bring multiple product initiatives through all stages of development. The ideal candidate has a broad base of practical knowledge and also knows when its most productive to stay theoretical to attain the necessary results. This person will play a hands on role on the team as the engineering authority for many projects. The position requires an effortless ability to keep projects in forward motion while bringing clarity and validation to the design and team direction.

We are interested in meeting candidates who are attracted to the impossible and have the mindset that no task is too big (or too small). Communication is essential for this position and candidates should enjoy interacting with a variety of disciplines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as technical expert and mechanical engineering lead in all phases of product development from concept generation through production

  • Utilize standard problem solving techniques to resolve daily production and field issues; implement both short and long term solutions

  • Manage multiple projects at the same time, working within function as well as cross-functionally

  • Manage project schedule and be available to update team as necessary

  • Work with teams to define solutions that reflect what the customer needs. Continuously focus on customer-driven innovation solutions in parallel with new tech development

  • Communicate manufacturing technologies, feasibility, advantages, disadvantages and risks to the development team and identify potential vendors for prototyping engagements

  • Provide guidance to the development team on prototype and production manufacturing throughout the development process (design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), quality, materials, finishes, etc.)

  • Develop estimates and obtain quotes for prototype and production capital, component and assembly costs

  • Qualify suppliers to meet development team and customer prototype and production needs (i.e. – prototypes, tool builders, rapid/short run molders, manufacturing development suppliers, materials, test, assembly etc.)

  • Relay industry/regulatory standards and requirements during the design process

  • Perform data collection and analysis to confirm and enhance theoretical design

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or similar with 5+ years of experience

  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes

  • Willingness to be hands-on

  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively and effectively in a team environment

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Proficient in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with HVAC equipment design and theory

  • Experience with plumbing design and theory

  • Familiarity with compliance certifications (UL, CE, etc)

  • Machining/prototyping experience


Staff Accountant

Freight Farms is searching for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team. The primary role of this position would be to support the CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance Department.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain billing and invoicing systems

  • Assist with payroll and related items.

  • Establish and maintain accruel and deferral schedules

  • Reconcile all monthly and year-end close processes according to GAAP

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and numerous other financial reports

  • Support other departments with financial analysis, research and reporting

  • Assist CFO with budget and forecasting

  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time - quite often on short notice - by the CFO
     

Skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 2 years of experience: no exceptions

  • Good team player: you’re not afraid to speak up but can do so without being confrontational

  • Detail-oriented: you’ve already noticed the 2 typos in this post and it’s driving you nuts

  • Highly skilled in MS Office: you’ve been called a spreadsheet jockey and you’re proud of it

  • Superior verbal skills: you will be interacting with customers and vendors regularly; well-spoken and written English is required

  • Excellent work habits: the ability to focus is a virtue but the ability to spin many plates successfully is essential
